Microsoft Blasts Massachusetts New XML Policy

State of Massachusetts want to protect consumers againt the giant Microsoft…is it the start of a change?

Even as millions of dollars worth of Office business hangs in the balance, Microsoft says it will not support the OpenDocument format likely to be adopted by the state of Massachusetts this month as its standard XML format.

"Desktop software that supports OpenDocument and PDF in the future is acceptable; Microsoft’s proprietary XML formats are not," Eric Kriss, Secretary of Administration & Finance for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, told CRN during an telephone interview Friday.
