The new 2005 Christmas lights, called
"The World's Largest Timepiece". Designed by Fabio Gramazio and
Matthias Kohler, the decorations replace the previous illuminations
that have lit up Zürich Bahnhofstrasse since 1971.
Second year, and I am still finding lightning cold and ridicoulous.
It
is made of 275
seven-metre-long tubular bulbs stretches 1.1 kilometres down the middle
of the street. Each tube has 32 light points, which turn on and off.
While this has been clearly made by a group of designer, they have
less if nothng to do with the spirit of Christmas. By luck, some
perpendicular street (Rennweg and others) are way more traditionnal. The
only question that remains is how many years, will the city keep
them...I hope not 25 years...
