Why I won't buy an Apple iPad yet

apple-ipad-tablet-device-420x0 Just coming back from the Zurich Bahnhofstrasse Apple store where I did play 35 minutes with an IPAD, the shop were not crowed nor full of potential customer as I was also downstair checking accessories.

I was interested by the 64Gb, Wifi + 3G iPad

  • I don’t like the current operating system: the “desktop” look really empty: it has way too much space between icons,
  • I did not see any special killer application made for the iPad, a lot are currently just scaled up. The gallery, the shop are nothing special at all.
  • The size make it a device I wont have in my pocket, making my iPhone 3GS still relevant in most cases,
  • 700 grams is heavy, try 25 minutes lifting it!
  • I miss a camera (front AND back camera with Flashlight please),
  • The GPS is only available on the 3G version, not on all 3 WIFI models,
  • Ridiculous 3G Data plan at 19CHF for 300MB and 39CHF for 2GB,

To confirm my first impressions, I went through Google to check what others are saying

If you have bought one, you may be interested in

How to Install vShare on iPhone & iPad

vshare

Disclaimer: I don’t recommend vShare or any other alternatives to Install .IPA files.  The only reason of this post is to help users try out paid apps before they decide to purchase them. This post do not support piracy or piracy-related apps.

I recommend you to use instead Android since you can test any paid application for 24h and get a refund if you are not satisfied!

You will need:

Only 2 steps are required

  1. Install AppSync
  2. Install vShare

AppSync

  • Is a package that Cydia asks you to install if you want to install Installous/vShare.
  • Allows users to sync and install cracked App Store applications to your iOS device.
  • Works by patching the Mobile Installation file on the iOS firmware which is needed to install .ipa files (App Store Apps) without going through iTunes.
  • Is only available through an external repository that must be added to Cydia.

Install

  1. Open Cydia
  2. Go to Manage -> Sources -> Edit -> and tap on Add
  3. Type repo.hackyouriphone.org and tap on Add Source to add the repo
  4. Now search for “AppSync for iOS 6″  and install it

vShare

After you’ve installed AppSync, do the following:

Enjoy!

Apple’s Reality Distortion Field is now getting more and more ridiculous…

Apple Reality distortion field is now getting more and more ridiculous…

“Apple revolutionized the telecommunications industry in 2007 when it introduced
the wildly popular iPhone, a product that dramatically changed the way people view mobile
phones.  Reviewers, analysts and consumers immediately recognized the iPhone as a “game
changer.”  Before the iPhone, cell phones were utilitarian devices with key pads for dialing and
small, passive display screens that did not allow for touch control.  The iPhone was radically
different.  In one small and lightweight handheld device, it offered sophisticated mobile phone
functions, a multi-touch screen that allows users to control the phone with their fingers, music
storage and playback, a mobile computing platform for handheld applications, and full access to
the Internet.” from http://www.apple.com/pr/pdf/110415samsungcomplaint.pdf

Apple seems to not understand anymore the concept of evolution

  • Smaller and lighter is something that any industry is doing all the time
  • Better embedded CPU –> lead to faster experience and more capabilities(browser)
  • Development of cell phones network –> internet is slowly possible
  • Better battery technology –> lead to Bigger screen
  • Cheaper euh no Apple is not well known for that Smile

Embrace the Remix

Technology, society has only come this far by building on the work of the people before you! the patent system is broken and useless: UPSTO (United States Patent and Trademark Office) don't even check if something was invented by another person or company. Just so long as no one has patent you can do it even if you are NOT the inventor!!!

From TED.com:
Nothing is original, says Kirby Ferguson, creator of Everything is a Remix. From Bob Dylan to Steve Jobs, he says our most celebrated creators borrow, steal and transform. Kirby Ferguson explores creativity in a world where "everything is a remix."

Said in the video:

  • Apple need 28 pages to explain how to unlock your device using your finger…
  • Steve Job famous quote should be extended with “Great artists steal but not from me”
