Anti Spam a set of components For Joomla/Mambo in version 1.1

  • com_log4php, (logging)
  • com_hashcash, (using cryptographic hashcash)
  • com_securityimages (CAPTCHA)

contains also modified versions of

  • com_akobbok, (guestbook system)
  • com_akocomment, (commenting system))
  • com_contact (contact formular from core Joomla/Mambo engine)

I want it!!!!

  • Bundle Download available in section ... "downloads"
  • Documentation available online, click read more
  • Feedback welcomed :-)

I will this week as well:
  1. Create 2 new projects on Mamboforge: com_securityimages and com_bayesianNaiveFilter
  2. Commit the latest code to all 4 projects com_log4php, com_hashcash, com_securityimages and com_bayesianNaiveFilter
  3. Commit modified version of com_akobbok, com_akocomment, com_contact
com_bayesianNaiveFilter is a new component (core done admin panel done, localization done), I have to integrate it into some 3rd party components (com_akobbok, com_akocomment, com_contact)

Bayesian Naive Filter are spam filter that evaluates email message content to determine the probability that it is spam. Bayesian filters are adaptable and can learn to identify new patterns of spam by analyzing incoming email.. Instead of identifying subject line or headers of the email, Bayesian filter will review the content of the email to prevent or block spamming. Bayesian filtering is the process of using Bayesian statistical methods to classify documents into categories.

At the end of the day year Joomla or Mambo will have 3 methods to protect its contents from spammers:

using captcha, using crypto hashkey, or with learning filters (all these methods can be defeat through)

Open Source? its all about choice! Enjoy.

Excellent Cedric - I am installing on a wide variety of standard systems that
work with all Mambo compponents/mambots/modules.

You will have a very big and
happy list of users when we figure out all the small problems.

Mambo is
currently plagued (troubled) by many spam-bots. Spam wastes much time.
a festival of bugs in release 1.1
Walter Cedric (82.126.188.xxx) 2005-09-23 20:30:39

Akobook:

- one line missing in akobook, the line which create the textbox for
the user

- 2 components which use the same switch key in 2 different
properties file -> akobook config and akocomment config -> one setting

overwrite the other, most of the time it was akocomment since it act as a
mambot after "php rendering to html", this solve the problem of
deactivating one antispam technology for the component
Component is shipped now
with all 3 technology switch off -> see "Settings added by
www.waltercedric.com" in "backend" tab of "akobook
settings"

- bad check of security flag in guestbook, it was not possible
to dissociate check as they was linked, now it is correct (pseudo code below)

guestbookaccepted = true
if securityimage active
then
guestbookaccepted = guestbookaccepted and checkimage
if hashcash active

then guestbookaccepted = guestbookaccepted ...

Colin and I have reach a great milestone. Guestbook/Security images/Contact is
now running on my homepage as well. I have to do some polishing and change at
the same time, some code...in order to stabilize the release.
Probably before
the end of the week end.
If you have some spare time, a mambo dev stage,
and
would like to test -> use contact me

windows lock TTF font file -> as usual
Walter Cedric (82.126.170.xxx) 2005-09-24 23:13:38

If you are updating a previous version of security images on a server running
windows, You will have to restart APACHE before deinstalling or installing any
new version...
why? TTF and FreeType functions lock font file
see here,
http://bugs.php.net/bug.php?id=24450
My code has the same problem...
additional akocomments option
Guest (202.83.79.xxx) 2005-09-27 01:21:58

It would be nice to have "Name" in akocomments to be able to be entered
by user without having to be registered instead of having to use Guest all the
time. ALA http://www.baccoubonneville.com/ customised akocomments module

Cedric and I have been bashing our heads together for a few days and with the
help of a few other people, we have a pretty clean and functional suite of
components and bots that use Security_Images.

the items I have been concentrating on, pop over to
