eCenter solutions

eCenter is the company which has give me the opportinity to work in zurich  from 2001 to 2004 in a very experienced team of Java developer.
I've made a break by going back to Helvetia switzerland 2 years ago, but I  am more than happy to reintegrate this unit at the end of year. eCenter is now going to the market (internal IT unit to an independent, market oriented IT solutions company) , and this give me the chance to put some links:

Yet in recent weeks the open-source community has been thrown into tumult. Software giant Oracle Corp. has acquired two small open-source companies and is in negotiations to buy at least one more. Many experts believe this is the beginning of a broader trend in which established tech companies scoop up promising open-source startups.

Red Hat Signs Definitive Agreement to Acquire JBoss


RALEIGH, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 10, 2006--Red Hat, Inc. (NASDAQ: RHAT - News), the world's leading provider of open source solutions to the enterprise, today announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire JBoss, the global leader in open source middleware. By acquiring JBoss, Red Hat expects to accelerate the shift to service-oriented architectures (SOA), by enabling the next generation of web-enabled applications running on a low-cost, open source platform.

Red Hat will acquire JBoss for approximately $350 million in initial consideration, plus approximately $70 million subject to the achievement of certain future performance metrics. The transaction consideration is composed of approximately 40% in cash and 60% in Red Hat common stock.

JBoss now can provide a very rich set of applications, including their J2EE server and portal, development IDE, transaction management.... This will gives Red Hat a middleware stack that rivals, and maybe will beats, what IBM offers (with Websphere), but for tens (or hundreds) of thousands of dollars less.

Will major vendors dilute open source?

Commercial software giants such as Oracle and IBM are moving deeper into and changing the face of the open source community by snapping up start-ups.
Though arguably in its early stages, the trend is accelerating. Last week Oracle announced it would buy open source database vendor Sleepycat Software, and rumors continue to swirl about its interest in JBoss, one of the leading open source application server firms.
